Project Overview
The FPC engaged Wander to review its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), assess organisational progress and support development of a stronger and more coordinated approach to reconciliation across the organisation.
Operating across geographically dispersed teams and a complex state government environment, the project required careful facilitation, organisational analysis and engagement across multiple operational contexts and leadership levels.
RAP Review & Organisational Assessment
Wander undertook a detailed assessment of the existing RAP framework, examining:
completed actions;
outstanding commitments;
implementation challenges; and
organisational barriers impacting delivery.
The engagement included consultation with staff across multiple levels of the organisation, including RAP Working Group members and Executive Leadership Team representatives, alongside review of relevant RAP frameworks, guidance material and reconciliation resources.
Importantly, the review was not approached as a compliance exercise, but as an opportunity to critically reflect on how reconciliation could be more effectively embedded across the organisation through stronger ownership, leadership alignment and operational support.
Wander developed a comprehensive findings and recommendations report that provided the organisation with:
clearer visibility of reconciliation progress;
practical improvement opportunities; and
stronger pathways for future implementation and accountability.
RAP Facilitation & Organisational Support
Alongside the review process, Wander facilitated RAP Working Group sessions designed to:
maintain momentum;
strengthen internal engagement; and
support collaborative planning around the organisation’s next phase of reconciliation activity.
These sessions created space for reflection, discussion and shared ownership around reconciliation priorities across the organisation.
Governance & Leadership Development
One of the key findings of the review process was the need for stronger organisation-wide leadership, coordination and accountability around Aboriginal engagement and reconciliation initiatives.
In response, Wander supported development of an internal Aboriginal Engagement Oversight Committee (AEOC) designed to strengthen cross-organisational ownership and implementation support.
This included governance input, Terms of Reference preparation and facilitation of initial sessions to help establish a practical governance mechanism capable of supporting coordinated leadership, clearer accountability and long-term organisational alignment.
The resulting framework provided a practical mechanism for leaders across the organisation to work collaboratively in driving reconciliation initiatives, supporting staff and maintaining coordinated organisational focus.
The Outcome
This project highlights Wander’s ability to support complex organisational change processes through a combination of strategic review, facilitation, governance and implementation-focused advisory support; helping organisations move from intention to practical and sustainable action.
