April has had us thinking about the organisations that hold regional communities together, and what helps keep those organisations strong.
Like many people in country towns, we’ve spent years wearing multiple hats across boards, committees and community organisations. That experience has reinforced something we believe strongly: good governance matters, and effective risk management sits right at its core.
Risk isn’t just a compliance exercise. It touches financial management, reputation, workplace safety, reporting, communication and the decisions boards make every day. Strong organisations invest in the capability of the people around the table, continually improve how they operate and take risk seriously.
But we also know volunteer boards and committees are stretched. That’s why we’ve partnered with Kim Buttfield to develop Govern Great Southern, a regional governance capacity-building pilot offering practical workshops and targeted advisory support for incorporated associations across the Great Southern.
This month we’re also sharing an upcoming regional heritage conference and our latest Thoughts & Insights piece on summative evaluation.
Because strong boards don’t just protect organisations; they help build stronger communities.
