March has had us zooming out from the day-to-day and looking at some of the bigger shifts shaping regional WA.
While we’ve been busy delivering strategic projects across government, community and business, we’ve also been watching the connections between housing, infrastructure, renewables, local manufacturing, workforce pressures and changing community expectations.
What interests us most is what happens where these issues and industries overlap. Some of the strongest opportunities for regional communities won’t necessarily come from within individual sectors, but from unlikely partnerships that bring different skills, resources and perspectives together.
What could happen if regional arts organisations worked with technology professionals? If farmers, retailers and aged care providers collaborated on regional supply chains? Or if local trades partnered with trusted community spaces to share practical knowledge and build local capability?
These are the kinds of questions systems thinking encourages us to ask. It helps organisations step back from immediate tasks, understand how different parts of a system influence each other, and identify the leverage points where action can have the greatest impact.
