Newsletter - May 2026
May took us across WA, from co-facilitating tourism workshops with DBCA and Gnaala Karla Boodja Aboriginal Corporation to conversations in Peel and a Governance 101 session with community organisations in Mt Barker.
That session, hosted at Mitchell House Art Centre, got us thinking about something we’ve seen repeatedly through our work with arts and cultural organisations: creative organisations think differently, and that’s one of their greatest strengths.
Arts organisations bring together diverse disciplines, perspectives and ways of solving problems. They’re often incredibly resourceful too, creating significant impact with limited resources and using constraints to drive creativity, collaboration and unexpected partnerships.
But those same strengths can make strategy challenging. When everything feels connected, priorities can be difficult to define. When people are deeply invested in the work, stepping back from delivery to see the whole organisation can take deliberate effort.
That’s where the right strategic support can help, not by imposing a generic framework, but by providing a thinking partner who understands the complexity and can help bring ideas, priorities and direction into focus.
This month we’re also sharing regional opportunities, our latest Thoughts & Insights on why intent matters, and some of the clever people doing good work across WA.
