Client: Artgold

Year: 2024

Project Overview

Artgold engaged Wander to provide strategic advisory and executive support over a four-month period, helping the organisation navigate governance, sustainability and operational priorities within the Goldfields arts and culture sector.

As the peak body for arts and culture in the region, Artgold represents a broad membership across multiple creative disciplines and communities. The organisation required practical, responsive support to help leadership manage stakeholder relationships, organisational planning and future sustainability within a challenging funding environment.

The Challenge

Like many arts-focused organisations, Artgold was operating with limited resources and ongoing funding uncertainty while continuing to support a large and diverse creative community across the Goldfields.

The Board required trusted external support to help work through governance matters, staffing considerations, stakeholder relationships and long-term sustainability opportunities, while also maintaining momentum across day-to-day organisational priorities.

The work required practical advice, strong communication and an understanding of both the regional context and the realities of the arts sector.

Wander’s Approach

Wander worked closely with the Chairperson and Board to provide practical strategic advice and day-to-day leadership support across a range of organisational priorities.

This included:

  • Governance and Board support

  • Staffing and organisational advice

  • Stakeholder and relationship management

  • Funding and sustainability planning

  • Pricing and revenue diversification considerations

  • Strategic communication and facilitation

  • Problem-solving and implementation support

Wander acted as a responsive external sounding board for leadership, helping the organisation work through challenges, identify opportunities and make informed decisions across both strategic and operational matters.

The Outcome

The engagement helped strengthen organisational stability, improve stakeholder relationships and support clearer strategic direction across the organisation.

During the engagement period, Artgold secured its first external corporate partnership, creating new opportunities for organisational support and long-term sustainability. The organisation also progressed new leadership arrangements and explored additional revenue opportunities to help strengthen future financial resilience.

The project highlights Wander’s ability to provide practical strategic advisory support that combines governance understanding, regional insight and hands-on implementation thinking within complex community and member-based organisations.
