August has us thinking about data, and more importantly, what data can’t tell us.


The Census gives us an extraordinary picture of our communities, from population and housing to workforce and economic trends. But good strategy also requires understanding the people behind those statistics. What skills, experience, aspirations and networks already exist within a community?  


This month, we explore community audits as a way to build that richer picture and support more grounded strategic decision-making. We’re also sharing First Nations enterprise funding, the Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference, thoughts on economic diversification in regional towns, and some clever work happening in cultural capability.
